At TBL Fire Protection, protecting communities goes beyond the buildings we work in. It’s about creating safer, stronger environments for future generations — and that includes supporting the natural world around us.

In July 2025, we were proud to support the second annual Wilder Families Festival at Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve, hosted by Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.

Why This Matters

Access to green space is not equal across the UK. In fact, Coventry is one of the most deprived cities in the country when it comes to access to nature and outdoor spaces

For many families, opportunities to connect with nature are limited. The Wilder Families Festival was designed to change that — inspiring children to build confidence, creativity and resilience through hands-on experiences in the outdoors.

As a Coventry-based business, this is exactly the kind of initiative we believe in supporting.

A Festival Designed to Inspire

Thanks to collaborative support, the festival delivered a full day of engaging, educational activities for local families, including:

  • Wildflower walks with ID guides
  • Pond dipping and bug hunting
  • Nature poetry and storytelling
  • Seedball making and wildlife-friendly crafts
  • Wild play activities such as den building and slacklining
  • Practical advice for families on how to support wildlife at home

These activities weren’t just about fun — they were about creating lasting connections between children and the natural world.

The Difference Our Support Helped Make

Through targeted promotion across Coventry postcodes, the event successfully reached families who might not otherwise have access to nature-based experiences

One of the most impactful outcomes was the provision of a free shuttle bus from Coventry to Brandon Marsh, helping remove barriers to attendance.

The results speak for themselves:

  • 51 families attended
  • 104 children and 98 adults took part
  • A significant increase in attendance compared to 2024

Many attendees were visiting Brandon Marsh for the first time — reconnecting communities with nature and creating new memories.

Building a Positive Legacy

The Wilder Families Festival forms part of the wider TeamWilder campaign, a grassroots movement focused on reconnecting people with nature and empowering communities to take action for wildlife

For TBL, supporting initiatives like this reflects our wider commitment to:

  • Community engagement
  • Sustainability leadership
  • Long-term impact within Warwickshire
  • Creating safer, stronger futures

Just as we work to protect buildings through passive fire protection, we also believe in protecting the environments and communities that surround them.

Looking Ahead to 2026

Following the success of 2025, plans are already in motion to grow the partnership in 2026, expanding the festival’s reach and continuing to support environmental traineeships that help develop the next generation of conservation professionals
